Lets Talk about Dawn Star Counseling
The Legend of the Dawn Star
Back when I was with the Anasazi Foundation (Best Inpatient Program ever!) Our young people would complete something called the Dawn Star Ceremony before they Graduate. We would share the Legend of The Dawn Star. It is the brightest star in the night sky, and the last star that can be seen as the morning begins. Native Americans sometimes had a rule that while the star shown there could be no war, no fighting.
It is a special period of time, for contemplation of sacred things. A time for new beginnings. A time for leaving our old ways behind and start our forward walking. It was such a sacred time for our young people. It was the beginning of 3 days of contemplation and communication with their parents after being away (in the deserts of Arizona) for 9 weeks.
I have the best memories of that time of my life. Dawn Star Counseling is a name that brings with it sacredness and hope.
